Re-inventing classic concepts, even board games, can take a lot of effort. How does one take a standard crossword game and twist it into a whole new experience? If you’re developer Nathaniel Gray, the answer is quite simple: put it in a hexagon. Think of HexaLex as a six-sided game of Scrabble and you’ll be completely ready to tackle everything the game has to offer.

I play a lot of hidden object games. The bulk of them are pretty much the same in most meaningful ways, falling into that dull, hazy gray area of "average," but every now and then one comes along that really stands out from the crowd. This is one of those times: The name of the game is Unsolved Mystery Club: Amelia Earhart, and it is very, very good.

As fans of the previous paint-by-numbers platformers to bear the De Blob name, the last thing we expected from the series was a brain-tingling puzzle game – but that’s exactly what De Blob Revolution is. You’ll need to think spatially and think quickly if you want to free the trapped graydians and bring color back to the world in this line-drawing, fast-thinking puzzler.

Attraction is the name of the game in new studio Yullaby's new magnet-themed puzzle game Magnetis. While the game has a great funky aesthetic and gameplay concept, a few glaring issues keep the game from pulling you all the way in.
The basic gameplay is very simple, and admittedly a great idea. Two tiles fall from a central shaft above a conveyor belt that you control with the arrow keys on your keyboard. The tiles can be a left- or right-facing magnet, or gray box. The goal is to make chains between two magnets that are facing each other. The more gray boxes you can put in between those magnets, the longer the chain.

In the experimental game Gray, you are a white or black androgynous person in the midst of a rioting mob, filled with people of the opposite shade. Your goal is to talk to the people who are highlighted and attempt to convert them to your point of view. It's amazing how accurately such a simple little game can hold a mirror up to modern political discourse.
